WALKING & CYCLING:
We want to ...

1   Focus seriously on finding a common ground with shop owners over cycling in the city centre
*
2   Promote walking and cycling among the population and its important tourist sector
*
3   Reduce barriers for reduced mobility population and elders to reinforce social cohesion
*
4   Improve pedestrian and cycling facilities such as pedestrian crossing conditions, defining traffic calming measures, improve signalization…etc.
*
5   Introduce and develop the ‘way to school’ to promote to children the walk mode of transport.

BARRIERS IN WORK PACKAGE 4
We want the toolkit to help us to overcome ...

1   The strong opposition from shop owners about reducing the number of vehicles with access to the city centre

2   The lack of information about walking and cycling routes, street facilities and road safety
*
3   The barriers for the reduced mobility population and elderly
*
4   Bicycle use in the difficult topography of the territory
*
5   The political issues still focused on a car based policy

ACTION IN WORK PACKAGE 5
We want to ...
1   Reduce the number of local employers, both in the city centre and the periphery, whose employees mainly travel to work by car
*
2   Analyse the commuter-travel patterns
*
3   Explore the concept of the Work Based Travel Plan in collaboration with local employers
*
4   Develop a Work Based Travel Plan for a company situated in a large industrial area of the city
*
5   Promote the use of travel plans to businesses within the municipality through existing promotional events such as the Mobility Week

1   Employers lack of knowledge and resources to develop a Work Based Travel Plan
