ACTION IN WORK PACKAGE 5

WALKING & CYCLING:
We want to -

1   Provide a personalised journey plan, incorporating various modes of alternative transport: walking, cycling, public transport, car sharing
*
2   Promote alternative modes of transport to employees
*
3   Raise awareness of energy and financial savings achieved by changing means of transport.
*
4   Raise awareness of health benefits of walking and cycling

BARRIERS IN WORK PACKAGE 5
We want the toolkit to help us in the following ways -

1   Promote walking and cycling as an important means of transport, forming part of a mobility management plan. Other transport modes are sometimes given more priority – we want to review the policy-decisions leading to this
*
2   Facilitate communication between sectors and companies. There is a large number of organisations and agencies involved in the transport in Dublin, each with different responsibilities and with a lack of communication between parties
*
3   Learn from the successful implementation of walking and cycling interventions in partner cities
*
4   Identify what implementation problems are encountered in Dublin and how we can overcome them
*
5   Work with employers and provide staff with mobility management plans, as employers do not have skills or resources to provide this information and services
