mailing list of the ASTUTE DVD due in December 2008.
ASTUTE has identified the barriers which public and private sector
organisations face in promoting walking and cycling. This toolkit
comprises many best practice examples which will help you overcome
these barriers. So that you can target the issue relevant to your
organisation, we have categorised a total of 10 main barriers and
44 sub-barriers.
The 10 barriers identified are:
- Safety and Security Concerns
- Inadequate Information
- Inadequate Urban Environment and Design
- Lack of Infrastructure and Support
- Poor Public Perception and Lack of Awareness
- Accessibility and Health
- Lack of Public Sector Support
- Lack of Private Sector Support
- Congestion and Air Pollution
- Lack of Education and Training
As such there are 2 search options: QUICK SEARCH and ADVANCED SEARCH

as you like.

ASTUTE is a three-year project, funded by the
European Commission, Intelligent Energy Executive Agency (IEEA). The
ASTUTE project is made up of partner organisations based within 6
European partner cities, all working together towards reaching the
ASTUTE project objectives. Ultimately, ASTUTE aims to identify, understand
and overcome the barriers that prevent increasing the use of sustainable,
environmentally friendly and energy efficient modes transport such
as walking or cycling through out Europe.
The ASTUTE website hosts a library of project resources and also provides
a mode of communication for project partners to share information.
This site also provides detailed information about the ASTUTE project
and status for both ASTUTE partners and other interested parties alike.
